Making Cookies with Katy

Bad Picture Book Draft #2

Cheryl and Katy were best friends.

One day, they decided to make cookies at Cheryl’s house.

And not just any cookies, but their favorite banana oatmeal chocolate-chip cookies.

Katy brought the bananas, the sugar, the nutmeg, the cinnamon, and the egg.

Cheryl supplied the flour, the baking soda, the salt, butter, oatmeal, and chocolate chips.

Katy measured

And Cheryl sifted.

Cheryl mashed

And Katy poured.

Katy accidentally broke the egg

And Cheryl cleaned it up.

“It’s okay,” she said, going to her refrigerator,

“I have another egg in here.”

She took the egg out and broke it into the bowl.

They took turns beating the mixture until their arms were tired

Until finally Katy poured in the chocolate chips

And Cheryl folded them into the batter.

They each spooned great lumps onto cookie sheets

Stuck the sheets in the hot oven

And washed all the dishes.

Fifteen minutes later,

They pulled the cookie sheets out,

Poured themselves tall glasses of milk

And scooped up the hot cookies.

Yum!
